Hotkey Builder Tips, Tricks, and Gotcha's

Before we begin, it's important to be aware of the loopholes and issues we have with the Hotkey Builder. Here are a few things to keep in mind.
Line Appearance
Never Change Line 1!!
Line appearance should ALWAYS be number 1 in the builder. Do not touch this as it can disrupt the configuration of the phone.
Line Appearance is not recommended because multiple devices with the same extension will fight for registration. Calls will be routed to the device that was last registered. It will not work like a "ring all."
Customers may attempt to do this thinking they can "share" extensions and save money. It's important to know that they will run into call limits at some point if they have more than 3 concurrent calls on the same extension.
This feature can also edit an extension number. This should not be used.
Firmware
It's recommended that the first time a customer uses Hotkey, they call Support to confirm/update their firmware. This will require a reboot of the phone and could take 10-15 minutes. This will need to be done for all devices that want to take advantage of Hotkey.
If a customer wants to bulk update firmware for a number of devices, we will have to schedule it with the NOC team during off-peak hours. Please send those requests to net2phone Canada.
Access
Office Managers are the only users that have access at the moment. They can edit the keys for any user.
To give Basic Users some control, the Office Manager can enable Favourites and when the Basic User edits their personal Favourites list, the phone will update after a reboot.
